Peterson's Top Colleges for Science recognized our science and math programs as among the 190 best in the nation. US News & World Report ranked CSB and SJU as two of the best national liberal arts colleges. Only three other Catholic colleges received this ranking. Barron's 300 Best Buys in College Education identified CSB/SJU as offering a fine academic program at a reasonable price. SJU was selected as one of Money magazine's 100 best-value colleges in the nation for providing exceptional education for the amount of tuition paid. The John Templeton Foundation has included CSB/SJU in its Honor Roll for Character-Building Colleges which recognizes colleges and universities that promote character and value development. Yahoo! Internet Life rated our campus #19 on their list of the 100 most-wired campuses in the nation. |
College of Saint Benedict 37 South College Avenue St. Joseph, MN 56374 Saint John's University
Founded over a century ago by Catholic Benedictine women and men, the schools remain rooted in the values and traditions of the Benedictines. As a result, CSB and SJU are committed to building a welcoming, inclusive, open environment. While 75 percent of the student body is Catholic, students of all faith are welcome. Academic Life The international study program has earned CSB/SJU a third place ranking for the number of students studying abroad. CSB/SJU offer semester-long programs in Austria, Central America, China, England, France, Greece and Rome, Italy, Ireland, South Africa and Spain. A full-year exchange program is available in Japan, and other opportunities are available through CSB/SJU's association with the Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs and the Upper Midwest Association for Intercultural Education. Campus Life Because CSB and SJU are residential colleges (over 80% of students live on campus and the remainder live within a few blocks), the campuses are alive with activity at all times of the day and night, seven days a week. With over 80 clubs and organizations there is an activity to fit almost every interest, and with seven lakes, and miles of groomed trails for hiking and cross-country skiing, there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation as well. Facilities and Resources Our computer resources have also undergone extensive upgrading. Nearly $10 million was invested in hardware, software and cabling infrastructure. A campus-wide network, more than 300 public-access computers and Internet and network access from every residence hall room and every classroom are all available to students free of charge. It's no wonder Yahoo! Internet Life magazine ranked us #19 on its list of the 100 most-wired campuses in the nation. The athletic facilities at CSB/SJU rival Division I schools in terms of size and equipment, ensuring students the ability to exercise not only their minds but their bodies as well. All of these facilities the pools, basketball courts, tennis courts, softball fields, weight and fitness centers, etc. are open to every student, not just varsity athletes. Athletics/Sports Blazers: Basketball, Cross Country, Golf, Ice Hockey, Soccer, Softball, Swimming and Diving, Tennis, Track and Field, Volleyball. Johnnies: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Hockey, Soccer, Swimming and Diving, Tennis, Track and Field, Wrestling. In addition to strong varsity programs, CSB and SJU offer 15 club and 14 intramural sports so that students at all ability levels can have an athletic outlet. Financial Aid Scholarships are also offered to underrepresented students. These scholarships range from $2,000 to $6,000 per year and are renewable for four years. CSB and SJU have a long history of assisting students from all economic backgrounds. There is a strong commitment to offer financial help based on a student's individual financial situation. Students interested in applying for need-based aid should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA).
